At YPS we feel children and young people’s voices are integral to the recruitment process for positions held within Children’s Services. We offer the opportunity for children and young people to be trained in interviewing skills and recruitment procedures to ensure the council employ the strongest possible candidates. Once trained young people chair their own interview panels and feed their decisions into the adult panel which helps form an overarching appointment decision.
Through YPS interview panel training and involvement in wider recruitment through Children’s Services young people are empowered, feel valued and contribute to important decisions made when recruiting new employees.
My name is Liz and I am the Participation & Inclusion manager at YPS, my job is to make sure young people’s voices are heard and listened to. I support young people to meet with decision makers to challenge decisions and hopefully make change happen. In my spare time I love walking, going to the gym, travelling and shopping. I have two children who are 11 and 9 and a dog called Nyah and a cat called ranger.
