Detached Project

Young People's Services deliver and co-ordinate detached work alongside external partners in all areas of the borough.

What do we do?

Young People's Services deliver and co-ordinate detached work alongside external partners in all areas of the borough. We focus on the most deprived communities and where anti-social behaviour, exploitation and a lack of resources/services exist. Our aim is to engage with young people away from physical delivery spaces and to provide advice and guidance which, in turn, empowers young people to make informed choices.

Detached work can sometimes have a focus, such as responding to reports of anti-social behaviour, but often involves dealing with issues that are prioritised by the young people in the moment and which are most prevalent in their lives. We hope to present young people with opportunities, to provide a platform from which their voices can be heard and to ensure they are safe in their communities.

Andrew Erlam

I’m Andrew, the Deputy Team manager at Young Peoples Services – my main role involves managing Targeted Youth Support Service and detached provision with external partners. Away from work I enjoy gardening, walking and looking after my dog Bowie. I’m big music fan, my favourite band is The Verve and I’m a long suffering Everton supporter – Up the Toffees.
