Targeted Youth Support (TYS) work with the most vulnerable young people in our communities who are known to Childrens Services through either a CAF (Child and Family Plan), CIN (Child in Need Plan) or CP (Child Protection Plan). Referrals are made by professionals through the borough council portal (DCRS Interface - DCRSInterface) or via a social worker if one is involved. TYS provides young people with a tailored support plan that enables them to overcome barriers that they are facing along with issues that have been identified by the referrer.

The TYS service is made up of two different teams.
Prevention Team & Intervention Team

The TYS Prevention and Intervention Teams offer a 15 to 20 week programme providing advice, guidance and informal education based on priority areas for all young people including – positive emotional wellbeing and identity, healthy relationships, personal safety and future planning. Every young person will get an opportunity to learn, socialise and build a toolkit that allows them to navigate through the difficulties they may face. Every individual is allocated a caseworker with whom they will build a positive relationship and who will provide a safe space to work on the young person’s individual priority needs. Prevention work is delivered through group work allowing those young people with more confidence to develop in a more social environment. Through Intervention work young people with less confidence will work on a more 1:1 basis and, when ready, introduced to more social situations.
