The Bill Hunt Canal Barge

What do we do?

The Bill Hunt is a canal barge managed by the service offering a range of trips, residentials and mobile classroom activities along the canal. Based at Eanam Wharf on the Leeds/Liverpool canal, the barge is fully equipped with fitted gallery, bunks, full central heating, flush toilets, hand basins, shower and a wheelchair lift. Maximum number of people allowed on the barge is 12.

Groups can hire the barge with a driver or as a self drive (skipper must hold RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman certificate).

Matt Johnston

My name is Matt and I’m the Positive Activities Lead for YPS. I support the TYS workers by delivering outdoor and adventurous activities, I also manage the Duke of Edinburgh Award and run bespoke activities for outside agencies. I started over 20 years ago as a DofE Expedition Leader and Store keeper. In my spare time I like to walk and ride my mountain bike, I can also be found taking holidays all around the UK in my self-built campervan.
